Your long post was full of wisdom and good anecdotes.
I have a current gardenia dilemna. Thinking of moving it again ... but thought should leave to a better season. I hope it likes our summer rain and some seafood stock I gave it.
Ha ha pruning. I have been slow to learn that one, but learning. I was so worried to damage the plants. I actually had to see the positive results to believe it. I did not grow up with a stable garden.
I sent my son out yesterday to get spring onions for a meal ... so he can recognise food ... in its growing stages.
There are generational problems in the systems that have been set up ... a little too much focus on wizzbang "professionalism" and we are the experts .... and we have the big guns ... and sadly enough ... that is what it has turned out to be.... and dreadfully lacking in wisdom... compassion ... or even effectiveness ....
I can guess ... what was said to you sophia ... and pretty sad that it is all about ... protecting their legal behinds. They have lost the plot.
I am disgusted in the poor allocation of financial resources ... under the fragmented capitalist system ... its not about throwing money at the problem ... that is often a cause ...
We have a long walk still to go ... in this system.

HI @Sophia1 my beautiful friend,
i hope you had a nice chirstmas and new year, so nice to hear that the gardenia's are starting to flower, the green leaves might be down to being low in nutriance, i don; know if you use sea sol, it is a seaweed solution that they love, you only need a little bit in a watering jug, it smells horendus but they just love it.
oh im so glad you are bringing a new generation into gardening, it is such a wonderful past time, and teaches the circle of life.
trees, shrubs and flowers are living beings and will resond to love and care.
i hope you look after yourself and don't take on too much on SANE, it is so easy to get overwhelmed, i will always be here when you want to chat, no pressure, no rush.
hugs my dear friend
Jacques

hi @Appleblossom my virtual mum 🙂
Gardenias are very temprimental, they like full sun and well draining soil, i know it sounds weird with such delicate flowers, but they really do thrive, i give mine around 6-8 hours of sun a day, they are in the middle of the yard.
you are so right re pruning, i was always so worried i would hurt the plant but although you do need to be selective trees and shrubs love pruning, you will find they come back thicker, more lush and greener than before. i have red robins and i was so savage with them because i wanted them to grow out not up and they are so thick and wonderful, they have the brightest fire red in spring and autmn.

Hello @Jacques
What a wonderful surprise to log on and find that you received my post.
I love catching up with your gardening expertise..
Also hope that you are still enjoying restoring that special bmx bike..
I do use seasol but do not think that I used it on the plants in the garden house..
So will definitely follow your advice on that..
It is still in a pot am just testing to see how it likes it's new position.
It will not be in full sun in winter months. Will that make a difference?
I hope that all is well with your family and girlfriend also..
Look forward to hearing from you as always...when you can..
your friend Sophia1 💜

Hello @Former-Member
Thank you so much for such an open response which would not be easy..
I read that you too understand the system as such..
There are some failings and at the same time there are some wonderful staff who work so very hard and show compassion...limited to the system..
The main issue is getting there ...
Larger than that is the decision to make the request in the first place as a carer..
hardest thing to do...words do not convey..
I will not make that call yet until I further explore clarifications..legislations...rights...
Am on a mission..
Well done on getting through..
You sound as though you are strong and you will succeed in life if you believe this..
Of course one then has to question what is success>
Success is not always what we think we want...
more what will bring us the best quality of life..
Be true to yourself and thank you for being there for me xx
