Anger

Anger is a rip in the heart

Anger is a scar on my arm

Anger is a tear on my shirt

Anger is a tear down my face

Anger is a sob while trying to go to sleep

Anger is a cry for help

Anger is what I am right now

Anger is here

Anger is a cry

Poem - Questions

Questions

What part of your life is real and what part new,
And what part automatic, repeated as you grew?
How many times do you stop in your day,
And question what you do and the words that you say?
Do you see the bonds crafted in your youth,
And do you repeat only lies or quest for the truth?
Are you a slave to future fears and past guilt,
And do you ever look at all you have built?
Does pain make you less than all you could be,
And resign to a life spent on bended knee?
Is the sum of the parts greater than the whole,
And do you give of your energy to a higher goal?
In ignorance or quiet suffering do you just carry on,
And never part the veil to see where you are and have gone?
Will you stand at the mirror and truly see,
And work at your bonds to finally be free?
Or will you continue to be lost to the ties that bind,
And never really know the quality of your mind?
These are the questions you have to ask,
And to properly live, answering them is your task.

Re: Poem - Questions

Hi @Silenus,

Thank you for sharing your gift. It makes us think outside the square and also to share common thoughts. This poem actually brings together a few of the questions that have been going through my mind. For instance do I live my life like I have a wounded knee or do I turn it into a positive by pushing forward, fighting for a cause and reducing stigma. I enjoy reading your writing. Do you participate in other writing or poetry blogs?

Re: Poem - Questions

Hi @Vanessa5.

Thank you for your kind words. My "gift" is merely me, struggling with these words to try and come to grips with the things that vex and perplex me, that inspire me to be a better person than I was before. We all have this gift.

It is a pleasure to share my wordy ramblings with you, just as much as it is a pleasure to read the words of others.

These words help me to deal with my bipolar, and they help me to understand what my position is within the greater picture of our society. They have brought war and peace throughout the years. Thankfully, over time, there is more peace than war. Life is a journey, after all. The end of the journey, well, that part is written in stone. We each must one day pass beyond life. What we choose to do between the bookends of our birth and our death, that is the true "meaning" of life if ever there were one.

I am glad that you enjoy reading my writing. Thank you for this gift.

In answer to your question - no, I do not participate in other writing or poetry blogs. I have found very few people who are as accepting of these deep and sometimes disturbing questions that I explore in my writings than the people on this mental health forum (and on BlueBoard where I used to be before).

It's funny, isn't it? A strange kind of irony... that people deemed to be "mentally ill" are the ones most sensitive and willing to explore the concepts that would set us free. The way that I see it, I wouldn't be "normal" for quids. Whatever "normal" means...

Sending hugs and happy vibes your way, and to all of the other questers and seekers of truth who struggle to function in a society that, in my humble opinion, is madder than anything I know.

Poem - Society

Society

What is society?
Have you asked yourself this question?
Have you truly delved deeply into what it means?

Society is a human construct.
It comes from the mind,
And through collective action,
Driven by each mind,
It becomes a reality.

Now ask yourself this important question:
How can there be an end to conflict in society
If there is no end to conflict in your mind?

Feudalism, socialism, communism, capitalism, democracy,
And any other -isms that we choose to form,
All of them are human constructs, driven by our minds,
And all of them are doomed to fall into conflict,
Until we address the conflicts that we ever have within.

A new society needs to be built.
The only way for a truly new way of existence to come about
Is to seek to find an inner peace within ourselves.

Society is a human construct.
It comes from the mind,
And through collective action,
Driven by each mind,
It becomes a reality.

Revolution comes and goes,
And the circle continues to turn,
Heads roll, society changes,
But still the same circle remains
As empires rise and fall.

They say that there is nothing new under the sun,
For how can something new come from the same old inner conflict,
Never addressed, never changing?

Again, again, again, again,
We repeat the same old mistakes and never learn,
Continually circling around the same sad point.

The revolution must start and end within;
In finding something new - an end to inner conflict,
Then we can make a society of peace.

The self evolution revolution,
Now there's a call to arms;
Seek to still the war within,
Extend that peace from your mind into society.

Society is a human construct.
It comes from the mind,
And through collective action,
Driven by each mind,
It becomes a reality.

Hahaha... yes indeed @Former-Member. Human agony. But also such human wonder, and the profound possibility for transcending any agony...
