hmmmm cheerbear, I don't think this is quite correct. When I go to places and mix with people, like on the beginning of that podcast, people flock to me. I don't get it because I don't really want it. So others seem to connect with me but I don't connect with them.
Online (text) is different because tone and smiles aren't seen so, in that way yes my words probably seem colder than intended because by nature I am analytical.
In real life, however, people ring me for advice, they seem to trust me because I am considered insightful and genuine, and that has always been the way. So in that respect the connections are there from others to me, but I don't feel a connection to them, or rarely.
Coincidently, I even found a quote relating to this and in fact and it is on that "picture" I mentioned to you. This is the quote:
That gels with my experience more so than how they described it on that podcast.

@CheerBear, thought this a bit of fun for in here. Tongue in cheek but probably a pretty good summary.

Love it @Spookytookims. Some of the one line summaries are good - there's soooooo much out there on it that a simple line can be helpful sometimes. Although as an INTP I don't know if information overload is a common problem for you 😉 I like this one too (pic below if my phone formats it properly).
It's a really interesting thing to delve into @Former-Member. While the idea of splitting the entire population into 16 groups has it's problems (lol), I think there's something in MBTI and other personality profile testy things. I've used it as a bit of a tool to guide me in understanding why I may or may not feel/think/behave a certain way. Obviously there are a bajillion possible factors to consider beyond personality, but it's a good starting point. How much we are shaped by biology and environment is another question I find interesting too.

Oh yes @Former-Member the types are very interesting and the more you learn about them the better they are.
@CheerBear The thing I couldn't get my head around on that INTP podcast was how they described and depicted the INTP mind working in those frameworks. We don't just hang the stuff like they said, that's way too disorganised. It's more like frameworks, with filing cabinets next to them, or I 'd more liken it to jigsaw pieces where we have the developing picture, and a pile of not sure what to do with pieces next to it.
If we can't put something into a picture or framework comfortably, to our own rigorous standard, the pieces or files go "pending". With enough follow up information, we decide whether to throw a piece out (delete a file), or have an "aha" moment and slot it into the framework or picture".
that idea of randomly hanging stuff all over those frameworks just sent my head into a spin and was a totally "no no no no" moment, because that's just not what we'd do. That's far too higgeldy puggedly for our methodical minds.
Einstein was an INTP, as was Jung and Descartes. No way did they have random clotheslines hanging in their well ordered frameworks. They'd never have been able to come up with their clean ideas if they were randomly hanging things all over the place.
These 16 types are based on Jungs work. The are delineated and clear, not bits hung all over the place. And for those peeps on the podcast to suggest we don't contribute to the world. Well, just mentioned some biggies and most o pf the technology we are using right now is thank you to an INTP thinking outside the box.
So not sure what they were talking about. It was like they just didn't get INTP at all. Like they said, they had been surprised by their email response in that last 24 hours, which highlights how little they knew and were cobbling it together. It showed.

@CheerBear and @Former-Member oh I just saw the diagram of your brains in the personality thread... that too I put in my collage of INTP.
I was going to post it here but looks like I didn't. I'm assuming because you posted yours it reflects fairly accurately? I know mine does. Haven't looked at the source of them but they are informative and presented in a fun fact way.
