Re: Christian Chat

Hi @heartathome , @DownMoreThanUp , @ENKELI , @Appleblossom

Today I was reading Luke 6. Jesus' teaching is challenging in this chapter.

- The Sabbath is highlighted in the first sections. Jesus offending the Pharisees on the Sabbath. Jesus shows honouring the Sabbath is not about following rules. It's about resting in God. Showing God's compassion to others, satisfying hunger is okay even if it involves "work".

- Jesus' night in prayer before appointing the apostles.

- 12 apostles appointed.

- Jesus healing a large crowd.

- Jesus teaching!:

* Blessed are the hungry, those who weep, those who are reviled because of Jesus.

* Woe to those who are rich, those who are filled, those who laugh, those who all men speak well of.

* Love your enemies.

* Do good to those who hate you.

* Bless those who curse you.

* Pray for those who spitefully use you.

* Turn the other cheek.

* Give to every one who asks you.

* Judge not.

* Condemn not.

* Forgive!

* And great shall be your reward. You shall be called children of the Highest!

- Why do you see the twig in another's eye when you have a log in your own eye!?!

- Good trees versus bad trees - from the abundance of our hearts we speak.

- Obey Jesus and you build your house on the rock. Nothing can shake Jesus' foundation.

Again the upside-down-ness of Jesus! Jesus' wisdom is very different from the world's wisdom. It is different from what makes sense to human flesh. And yet He is right. When I don't obey it, I hurt myself more than anyone else.

Re: Christian Chat

Hey @Realness  Thanks again for sharing what you're reading in the Word!  Short and to the point. I love it! What have you been up to this morning? Do you have any plans over the weekend? I'm having a quiet one. I'll connect with people at church tomorrow. 💛

Re: Christian Chat

@Appleblossom i'm sorry this how you feel about my usage of the bible. 'senseless bible bashing?' you have no idea how much The word has helped me overcome my trauma, i'm sorry that God's Word in my life upsets you. and be mindful not to tag you. The last thing i want to do is hurt you. Rather i love using Scripture to support those who have also been harmed by religion using it out of context. Sad this is not how it comes across to you.

@heartathome @Realness @Jynx @ENKELI

What is  being told me here is important to me. Does my faith in God's Word, and how i use it, upset you guys as well? For that is the last thing i want to do?

Please be honest.

Thanks

Re: Christian Chat

Thanks @heartathome .

No plans for the weekend. Another gentle slow day.

Re: Christian Chat

Hi @DownMoreThanUp ,

A quick answer to your last post. I find much of what you write helpful. 🙂 There is genius in your writing. 🙂

I think there are two purposes to your writing: one is to encourage others and the other is to express/get out of your system your current reality. The second purpose is probably more important than the first purpose. It helps us to know where you're at. These Forums are a gift from God for those with complex mental health to express what's going on inside. Please write what's real for you. We can skim over the parts that don't work for us.

@DownMoreThanUp

Just wanted to thank you for attaching The Chosen - The Miracle of the Fish Luke 5. I am new to The Chosen. I will definitely be working through watching all of it.

Also, The Shack is a good movie. It is some time since I watched it. But you're right - it helps tremendously with extending grace and forgiveness. I should watch it again - I can't quite remember God's perspective in it.

You are very passionate about Jesus. How can I find fault with that! Personally, I find the long posts.... well, long. 😉 I don't like Satan getting any attention either, but I know the struggle you have had with the 'dark world' by what you've said. Not everyone will relate or agree with you. I could see how It could be seen as Bible bashing to many people but that's how you communicate! If you keep it on the Christian chat, you should be right. And like you said, you won't tag that person anymore. Are you okay?  @DownMoreThanUp  💛

Re: Christian Chat

I've been told about The Chosen but haven't seen it yet. I might look into it. I haven't got the concentration span to watch a TV show or read any books these days! The Shack is a great movie and even better book! 💛

Re: Christian Chat

Peace brother @DownMoreThanUp Others may benefit more from your style, than I.

I recognise that i am just too distressed at the moment.  Too much convoluted stuff churning away within me.  But I felt I had to say something and not just disappear, as I have been a backbone on the forum for 10 years.  Mostly I was in helping and supporting roles, but as more of my story comes out, I am very vulnerable.  It is what it is.

VMIAC had a co-design concept noting that consensus isn't always best but a diversity of views may be better.  Often the church forces too much consensus on us.

God bless
