Thanks @Zoe7, you said:

"super tough not having family around - but we are family here - in a very dysfunctional way...

I am going to be checking in here across the day and you are on my list of people to keep an eye out for Heart"

Re: Christmas Loungeroom

Thankyou. I have never really had a nice Christmas. Can’t see it changing so don’t enjoy. Just another day for me.  When you grow up in a family who are not close in any way it isn’t a very happy time. I tried for many years to make nice Christmas dinners etc but nobody ever appreciated it so I stopped nobody cared. My hubby is the same. We have each other and that’s enough. Will cook a roast and a sugar free cheesecake. Then go down the creek and play fetch with our dog. That’s my idea of a nice day. Merry Christmas to everyone who do enjoy hope you all have a healthy happy day.

Re: Christmas Loungeroom

That actually sounds like a very lovely day you have planned @Carlachris - a quiet meal and time with your dog is my idea of a good day. We all have our own ways to mark the occasion and yours sounds just right for you. Feel free to check in here too if you need the company - I am sure there will be others here to chat Smiley Happy

Re: Christmas Loungeroom

Thankyou. We are battling at the moment with hubbies MI so quiet is what we need anyway. I would like a little bit of joy and Carols in the Park but can’t go and not allowed to be apart of it all unless I sneak away and listen on the radio in the car. He spoils it on TV with a political running monologue if I try to watch it on the night. I have tried watching it on my iPad with headphones but his attention seeking behaviors kick into overdrive. He’s a bi5 high tonight so even commenting here is a bit difficult. Love the pretty dresses and really good old fashion Carols not the new stuff. Maybe this year.

Re: Christmas Loungeroom

Yes @Carlachris - a quiet meal and walk by the water sounds fine
This k its important to mark the occasion with something special, different, no matter how small
Just that something to recall
Its suppose be about family but if they're too toxic, I doubt God wants us to constantly

Re: Christmas Loungeroom

We are not followers of a God. Just kindness towards others and nature. Unfortunately religious people have been very detrimental to my husbands health in many, many, many ways. Decades ago. But trauma runs deep.
