The Weekly Friday Feast

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Hi @eth,

How are you? Glad you could make it tonight and thanks for the plate of food. Huevos rancheros sounds delicious. I've never had it with egg over it. I do love eggs.

I agree the bathroom is the one place I like to keep clean, that and the floors. I do have like the must clean things that I do daily. Sweeping the floors and dishes. Does anyone else have daily must do chores?

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Mmmm... we used to make "Hoover Ranches" when I was a kid. I could never master letting the egg cook though...

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Just looked at UFYH and FlyLady and they look like great resources.  Might motivate me a bit more.  @Crazy_Bug_Lady sounds like you're really having a serious clean-out.  Good for you!  Making a list for what doesn't happen today might help too.  Had a great laugh about putting everything in the bedroom.  In my spare room at the moment is washing that's been folded and sorted but still not put away.

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

I would have put it all in my spare room, but I knew if I did it'd stay there... There's an UFYH app. I downloaded it. It's hilarious.

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

How do you make 'hoover ranches' @eth and @Crazy_Bug_Lady?

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

I will try Huevos rancheros .. never done it before ... sounds yum ... thanks

I like the Flylady's

CHAOS  Cant have Anyone Over Syndrome

As I have had too many contradictory attitides to deal with .. including how clean freak women can drive people mad ... but food prep has always been an absolute necessity /// Planning meals and doing dishes are it ... as a daily chore ... everything else is negotiable... depends ...

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Hi everyone. Great to know I am not alone in the never ending struggle with domestic tasks. You all rock with your easygoing attitudes to it. I beat myself up about it. I think I've been looking at too many perfectly spick interiors in TV ads for too many years, lol.

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Ok will try to do an abbreviated recipe for you :

Sautee 1 onion and 1 red capsicum in oil about 5 min.(With optional chopped chorizo). Add 1tsp cumin. 30sec later add 4 chopped tomatoes, 1/2c stock,1tsp chopped red chilli and 1/2tsp oregano.  Bring to boil and reduce heat, simmer 20 min until reduced and thickened. Stir in 400g can red kidney beans (rinsed).  The easy way with the eggs is to simply fry them and serve them over the above on warmed tortillas.  Alternatively transfer the mix to an oven-proof dish, make 4 wells in the top and crack 4 eggs into them and bake for 15 min or so at 180 deg cel.  Yummy with sliced avocado on the side.

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Hi Everyone,

It seems I am late here tonight. I will have the tofu tacos as I'm vegan 🙂 I think my partner is making us sushi - well I hope! I'm hungry (again) I really find being hungry annoying. I wish I could take a pill with all my needed nutrients... maybe something to do with my eating disorder history. I haven't done much cooking myself for maybe a year & half due to my ill health. Earlier this week I made an epic salad with lots of ingredients & felt a sense of accomplishment.

As for cleaning - I'm not very good at keeping things clean except for my clothes....

Everyone here seems to function so much better than me.... 😞

I had a severe relationship crisis this week, which lead us to a relationship counsellor at lifeline. He was really helpful, but I still feel shaken up. He has referred me to Partners in Recovery - I'm not sure exactly what they can do for me - I keep missing the call. I plan to ring back on Monday morning.

I managed to go to yoga twice this week again.

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

p.s. When I say I beat myself up over domestics, doesn't mean that this tactic works. Currently the sheets need changing, the washing needs doing, the floors need mopping, the balcony needs sweeping, etc. I manage loose neatness a lot better than other domestic tasks. Cat Wink
