Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hello @Former-Member, @Determined, @Faith-and-Hope xx

@Former-Member wrote ---Do you find with the ups and downs that tenderness can be a casualty. Talking about the gentle touches on the arm or hair Still get hugs but miss these other intimate gestures.

Totally Agree @Former-Member, xx Me too Heart

and also when I am really upset, he takes a lonnnnng time to just give me a hug -- one second hug

Hello @Determined, @Faith-and-Hope, @Former-Member, @Mazarita, @Maryjune xx

My problem is I keep feeling responsible for fixing things. -- me too @Determined

I like @Former-Member comment that we cant love someone back to health (doesn't stop me trying),

But I must say that Love has changed my hubby over the years , He has changed over the years Smiley Happy

@Faith-and-Hope @Determined @Shaz51
Thanks for your replies.

While our circumstances are very different, at the end of the day I think we all want to feel loved.

Even though love cannot cure a mental illness,
it can create an atmosphere of safety where someone has more opportunity to heal and grow. (This of course requires insight).

Agree @Former-Member @Shaz51
While we cant fix someone by loving them love creates an environment that enables them to help themselves.

That's all we can try to do ....

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hey @Determined

Hope BBQ goes well. Hope you and your darling are able to relax.

Really good to see positive response from OverTheEdge in @Shaz51 love post that the love of her husband did create an atmosphere where she could heal.

After a major stress out, I am back on even ground but a lot of questions remain. I see the clinical director again next week to update Mr Darcy's chart and I am reminded of the saying to "never trust the tongue when the heart is bitter", although I sometimes think a heated debate might be just what I need. I am still thinking through the response I got in relation to my concerns.

Take care Bro,

Darcy

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

hi @Determined and everyone.  I've spoken to his doctor and told me it's borderline personality disorder and they rule out his delusions are from the drugs and alcohol he had before.  as of the moment he is taking his mess but he still feels restless.  He mentions stuffs like a transmitter in his ears and someone is spying on him and I can see he is struggling to control his temper , he still gets easily confuse with the way our stuff is organized. sometimes he gets frustrated and walks away then come back calm .. so he is trying to control his frustrations. there are moments he would think I'm cheating on him when I'm browsing my phone and turn off the apps when he is trying to talk to me..so far our situation is ok .. but I'm kinda worried coz he said meds so expensive and since he is on centerlink pay only he is worried he can't afford it. so he is hinting he doesn't want to take meds anymore. . I'm kinda concern thou coz his dellusions is still there and gettin worse.

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hi @Former-Member,

Thankyou, our bbq went really well, my darling was having a major stress out this morning about getting everything done but we got the necessary done with time for a nap before our visitors arrived. It all went well with little stress after our visitors left.

We did take the cheats approach this time and bought disposable everything and binned it all at the end of the night so there was no washing up. Don't know why we have never done that before lol.

Glad to hear you are doing better and trust your upcoming meeting goes well. Know exactly what you mean when you say about not trusting the toung when the heart is bitter. I often have to say nothing rather than risk saying somthing I  may later regret. Trust you can work through it all for the best outcome for both you and mr Darcy.
