that is a lovely idea....
I love it when teachers think outside of the square and introduce ideas about the real world in perspective...
some children do not have that opportunity shared at home...so that is wonderful..
you have much to look forward to...

I had a boy some years ago that learnt about the lack of water in some countries - I helped him research some of the organisations that helped deliver water to struggling communities and for the rest of the year he brought all his pocket money in to donate to a specific charity - I called his parents and they said that is what he wanted to do and they supported him...so I told him I would match what he brought in... then other kids started donating their ice-cream money or spare pocket money - we raised nearly $200 in a few months (not great for me lol). Then the boy who started it lost his little brother in an accident and we all donated the money back to the family to build a cubby house for the boy and his brother - it is so nice to see such young kids being so compassionate @Sophia1

@Zoe7@Sophia1@MDT@outlander@Former-Member That's all the names that dropped down. I belong more to the animal kingdom than the human. I find more acceptance there, more belonging. I've worked with children also, nothing like you @Zoe7 a church environment, the best experience of my life, the best years. I can well understand your love of teaching and children, they are lucky to have you.
The pics are amazing @Sophia1 one more from me.

good morning @Maggie
lions are such beautiful animals....like elephants very protective of their young...
I have one cat who will lay against us but not on our laps...she will lay in a wicker basket on top of the desk in the office when I am on the computer...she is here with me now...she also covers her eyes with one paw if she is in the living room and the light is on...
she is quite artful and upsets my other cat eighteen months younger than her...he has been miffed since I came home from hospital...feeling abandoned I think...having not fully recovered from my being away two months last year...
I do not sit for long so he misses out on sitting on my lap for long periods...he has this weird thing that if I am laying down on my side on the settee he will not jump up and lay next to me....
So there has been much scurrying backwards and forwards through the house....faster than a moving train!...
much sulking....

That is a very moving story....to have been a part of that must still mean so much to you...these are memories that you can bring to the fore and retrieve when you feel that you need support...
what brilliant parents...listening to their child's wishes...
you could not teach that from a text book...
I started writing this yesterday in response to your story about the young boy who wanted to donate his pocket money for those who were living in conditions with lack of water...
I tried using my laptop last night ...very slow and tends to convert to predictive text in some language unknown to me...looks perfectly fine when I am typing...when I read over what I have posted at a later time my words have been translated into a language from lala land...
