Re: Wind-down Wednesdays

Hi all! Another Wind-down Wednesdays post coming through! 💗

I don't know about you all, but August has been a LOT for me! I've noticed that I've been listening to a lot more music and really 'feeling' the music too... which leads us into our next topic:

Music!

How does music help us?

It can bring us joy, build a sense of connection (to others or perhaps to the song itself), making us feel less alone. It can help us feel relaxed, calm and even assist with falling asleep.

  • Some studies say that music that’s around 60 beats per minute can cause the brain to synchronize with the beat causing alpha brainwaves. This alpha brainwave is what is present when we are relaxed and conscious.
  • Some researchers have said that "listening to music seems to be able to change brain functioning to the same extent as medication."

Music is something that almost anybody can access and makes it an easy stress reduction tool.

What type of music helps calm us?

  • Native American, Celtic, Indian stringed-instruments, drums, and flutes are very effective at relaxing the mind even when played moderately loud.
  • Sounds of rain, thunder, and nature sounds may also be relaxing particularly when mixed with other music, such as light jazz, classical (the "largo" movement), and easy listening music.
  • Sometimes it's not about the genre - it's about finding the harmonious and rhythmic patterns that align with your emotions. Whether you’re drawn to calming classical melodies or the upbeat rhythms of rock, trying out different music styles can help you find what truly helps you unwind. It may change depending on your emotions and that’s okay too!

Note: whether YOU like the music being played or not will largely determine whether you find the music calming/relaxing.

Some may relax you, some may not. Forcing yourself to listen to relaxation music that irritates you can create tension, not reduce it.

If you’d like to learn more and find some music to trial out, check out this page here:

Questions (feel free to answer any/all):

  • What type of music/sounds soothe you? Is there a tune that never fails to bring a smile to your face?
  • Have you noticed a difference in the type of music you’re drawn to when you’re experiencing various emotions?
  • Are there any music-related tools you’ve found useful? (i.e. apps, instruments, videos, etc)

Re: Wind-down Wednesdays

Thanks for tag @rav3n , I'm a firm believer in frequencies which tie into energy healing.

I have been listening to many different healing frequency tracks, binaural beats is also good as well.

But I love my happy hardcore / uk hardcore, with its upbeat energetic fast tracks, it gets the heart going in the morning.

I recently read / watched something on humming and it's benefits. Apparently humming can stop any thoughts you are having at that time, so I'm definitely giving that a go.

Here's a track that I've been hooked on lately, which has a 432hz frequency mixed with it.

"If music is not in harmony with the planet, it is not in harmony with the human being" Enjoy the best Celtic and Enya music at 432 Hz frequency With a binaural background tone that will make you enter the best relaxation and meditation. If music is not in harmony with the planet, it is not in ...

Re: Wind-down Wednesdays

Hi @rav3n

A great topic.

I am one of those that hates most music. I will listen to it in my car but that's it.

It doesn't matter the type, I just cannot connect with it. I find that it irritates me more than having a calming effect. Even audio books don't agree with me.

I guess we are all different 🤷‍♀️

Re: Wind-down Wednesdays

I’m with you on this one @Snowie

Re: Wind-down Wednesdays

This track @Bunniekins !

If I'm ever "in love", this is a go to!

Thanks for the tag @rav3n

Good topic 🙂

Re: Wind-down Wednesdays

@Former-Member yesss i like a bit of hardstyle and upbeat music, especially when i'm at gym. i was talking to @Captain24 about Solfeggio frequencies a few months ago actually, i remember using it for a short while but it did help my mind quieten.

i do believe sound frequencies can have an impact on our body and mind, i haven't tested out which frequency works best for me yet but i do really like the one you sent. i now have an urge to listen to it in a forest-like setting though.
