Hi all,
After I post this, I will be jumping off the forum until this evening. The psychologist who does my neurofeedback is sick so I won't be having my session today @Spookytookims. You will have to wait until next week for the next installment on that adventure. ![]()
I am definitely the professor on Gilligan's Island. And in answer to your question, finding fresh water is the first task. ![]()

oh @CheerBear you don't know Gilligan's island either? oh dear!
For both of you, @Former-Member, and yourself, They are marooned on an island. There is a super rich couple who think they can buy everything but of course on the island their money is pretty much useless but still they manage to pull off the high class act. For me those two are pretty annoying.
The professor, who is always trying to invent things and make their lives better. He doesn't have much of a sense of humour but he invents the most ingenious things. From furniture to trying to make radios.. all sorts. He gets exasperated quite a bit and really likes structure and plans (think that's a big reason @Phoenix_Rising said she identifies with him now that I think of it, that fits a J perfectly.
There's an actress, who has had fame in the movies also stranded with the group! She pretty much does not a lot but bring a bit of glamour and "hollywood" to the show, though she does try to be helpful she pretty much isn't really.
Gilligan... he is the skipper's mate. He has a heart of gold but just manages to pretty much stuffup everything he touches despite his best intentions. He may be partly why the ship sunk, although that is never really explored, or not that I saw it may be somewhere. He spends a lot of time saying sorry and wondering where he went wrong. He super annoys the professor, because he is all over the place, unstructured and really quite a nightmare if you need any calm and tranquility in your life. He does stumble on some really helpful things though, although most of the time he is oblivious to those, unless it's pointed out to him.
Then there is the skipper. He was the skipper of the boat. He spends a lot of his time "mentoring" Gilligan. He is quite protective of his "little buddy" but even he sometimes can't put up with some of the things Gilligan accidently gets himself into. He is basically in the show as a kind of father figure to Gilligan, he reassures him when things go horribly wrong and constantly tries to help him get through the fiascos he brings on himself.
Oops I forgot the Marryanne character... she is down to earth, almost farm girl kind of, very pretty and like I said to lilcaterpillar, she is very kind and tries to help everyone. She is far more practical than the movie star one (Ginger) but Ginger does try in her own way.
There, iin a nutshell, you have it... and now you can probably see why @Phoenix_Rising posting that link to the show is perfectly appropriate and why the idea, with the different personalities, brought it to her mind. 🙂 . Because pretty much us marooned on an island, and a story based on our personality types, is exactly what Gilligan's island is. Just different characters.

@Phoenix_Rising Oh I am sorry to hear your session was cancelled. That's disappointing... for you and me. J/k I know more so for you, but I do look forward to you explaining your set tasks and how it all went. As I've told you, I find it fascinating, and of course I'm very into the idea of neuroplasticity research in all its forms, so naturally I'm agog with the anticipation of your installments. Sigh! Well I guess we just both have to wait a week longer. 😞 Sorry you missed it this week though.

@CheerBear and @Former-Member clearly your homework is to watch at least one episode of Gilligan's Island on youtube.
I have to admit, I never really watched it, but I am certainly aware of it enough that the theme song was the first thing that popped into my brain when @Spookytookims talked about being marooned on an island.
@TheVorticon I don't take the MBPI that seriously either. I think it is a bit more than a parlour trick, but I would definitely not want someone thinking they "knew" me based on my MBPI results. There are a bazillion other things that shape personality. In the autism community there is a saying "when you've met one person with autism, you've met one person with autism" meaning that it makes no sense to think that all people with autism are alike. I think this expression could equally be applied to each of the MBPI types. I know for myself, my icky history has massively shaped the person I am today. Someone with the same MBPI result as me, who had a less icky history, would present quite differently. So yep...to me this is just a bit of fun.

@Phoenix_Risingwhile you are around... one thing... I'm going to try to write a first episode quickie this evening.. just wanted to check with you... your awesome brain seems to have quite a lot of area devoted to rules and rule following... how strongly or otherwise do you personally think that applies to you? It just need to know for my story, if you don't mind.

@Spookytookims I super like rules. Rules make me feel calm. The first rule on the island is that everybody must follow all subsequently developed rules all the time. ![]()
