General chit chat

Re: General chit chat

I think paying the car ego can only be viewed as supporting the welfare of the children caught up in this situation @Former-Member .... and this is definitely a purposeful and necessary thing to continue with to the best of your capacity .... acting as a god-parent and helping to keep the kids fed, clothed, attending school, in good health, and providing them moments of creativity and joy where you can ..... remembering that it is not always about finances .... there are many other ways to provide aid to others in distress.

Re: General chit chat

Hello everybody 🙂

I went to the library and got my entertainment for my nights and discovered it is going to close for 2 weeks for renovations 😞 The ladies at the library are always very nice and friendly to me, I'm very grateful for that, and this one suggested I stock up before the close - so I'll go back in next week and do that 🙂

I drove out to the bridge and saw with my own eyes that the water level is no where near overflowing it. Though it was obvious that it had, going by the debris covering the fences and up the trees.

I decided to go and look at one of the local Weirs, not my favorite one but one that is easier to get to. I turned down a road and before long came across water, not flowing over it, more like a giant puddle. I slowed down; another idiot flew past me and straight through it! It showed that, apart from their lack of intelligence, self-care or consideration for other road users (I sure as hell don't want to be the first upon an accident scene!) . . . that it was fairly safe to CAUTIOUSLY drive through it. So I continued.

Not far down the road and I saw a truck pull out, it seemed to block the road and stop . . . I thought it was done deliberately to stop people driving into flooded roadways; but there was no-one standing in front (which they usually do, in fact the Police often man flooded roads - because idiots continue trying to go through!)

As I approached I noticed a young fellow running from his tool box to the trailer and back; I pulled over to the side of the road, thinking of just doing a U turn and going home, but something about the almost panicked speed of this young fellow, made me actually get out of my car, walk over and ask if he was Ok. He said he just had to 'fix the trailer', looking at the possibly more than right angle of the prime mover to the trailer, I think the poor fellow may have 'jack knifed it', and understandably felt it was imperative to get it off the road as soon as possible. There was plenty of room at the side of the road to go around him, so I did and continued on my way.

Before long I felt that this road did not look familiar and was unsure if I'd picked the right one to get to the Weir, but decided that didn't matter and I'd just 'go for a drive'. This road seemed to cross the river/creek/brook many times and was giving me a good indication that although the roads had been under, the waterway levels were definitely going down and much safer.

But then, as I drove along I could see something standing in the middle of the road, as I got closer I recognized it as a young cow. It just stood right in the middle of the road, directly facing my oncoming vehicle and stared. I slowed down, thought of the idiot that had flown past me and cautiously drove up to it, encouraging it to get off the road. Once it had done that I noticed a gate and I actually went through it, stopping to open and close it - and then continued up to the house!!

There was an older fellow there, I explained about the cow on the road in case it was his or he knew who's it was. I was concerned, not only for the safety of drivers on the road; but to my knowledge if livestock causes an accident it is the responsibility of the owner, if the accident was fatal, that owner could be facing manslaughter. It wasn't his, he had no cattle, but mentioned he'd noticed fences down on the other side of the road. I didn't take it any further, hoping this gentleman would inform his neighbour; but that was enough for me, I'd had enough of a drive and came home 😄

I think I'll ask the center of my Universe if they'd like me to visit tomorrow. It doesn't have to be Easter time to visit!? I'm worried about them now.

Hi @Former-Member,

Quite an adventure today for you. Thanks for sharing it with us. Smiley Happy

I'm writing this through thick fog of cold/flu that started with a sore throat and a lot of sleeping yesterday and has just got worse and worse over today. Eyes and nose constantly watering, blocked ear that I can't hear out of now, explosive sneezes bursting forth every few minutes and painful coughing. Hot and cold. You know the drill. Have now taken some VC and also some pain relief as my neck is really sore with it too. Haven't had one of these for ages, it's hit me like a ton of bricks.

Glad you had a much more interesting day and that the way seems clear for a visit to the centre of your universe. Smiley Happy

Re: General chit chat

Hello @Mazarita, I hope your tucked up in bed, perhaps with a hot water bottle for your toes and some chest rub to ease things a little. Did your companion get some Vit C and Garlic for you? Take it easy, you need to focus on you right now. This World will continue turning, you can forget it for a little while 🙂

Get well soon!

Re: General chit chat

@Former-Member, sounds like anyone with a cold/flu around you would be nicely treated. Smiley Happy Yes, companion got me VC but we forgot the garlic. No vaporub or water bottles. Still sitting here typing away, lol. I'm nice and rugged up though, have my trusty tissues by my side, all good for now. Smiley Happy

@Former-Member, I want to invite you to join in The Weekly Friday Feast with us. Not sure if you know about it. Everyone is online at the same time so it moves pretty quickly. But it's one of the highlights of the week here for many of us and you are most welcome. Smiley Very Happy

By the way, I am sure you will have worked out that "car ego" was supposed to be "car rego" above ...... 😳:face_with_rolling_eyes:😆
