Re: Word for the Day - Comfort or Play

Hi @Former-Member and @outlander ,

i have two little dogs, they are little poodle crosses they were rescue dogs. They are on the bed with me now.  They bring me a lot of comfort.  My son also has a stuffy and an Indian ring neck parrot.  So we are well catered for in the pet department.

Where I live there are also lots of birds. That is one of the nice things about it here

Hello @outlander I love love love dogs they are amazing (better than some ppl lol😜)... We have two pomchoodles, sisters Bambi & Barbie--they are completely opposite in looks & personality- yet twins--before these two we had a chihuahua X for eleven years who was my best friend & like an extra limb for me we were so energetically interwoven when he passed away it was Really rough for me & I lasted two days with a broken heart before I could not take it any longer & went to look at Bambie in the shop & came home with two dogs!😂 Dogs are AMAZING! Thanks for your post 😊🐶🐶🐶

Re: Word for the Day - Comfort or Play

@Former-Member, I just love the picture of your adorable little Evie.  Just beautiful.  And you're right our pets do offer so much comfort to us.

@outlander, the red panda is quite unique arent they.  Yes Holly is a mini foxy cross.  She has some chihauha (never can spell that word dammit) in her as well as the foxy.  There is another breed which looks very similar to a Mini Foxy and that is the Tenterfield Terrier. The brown and white dog you had sounds more like a Jack Russell.  They are usually brown and white where as the Mini Foxy and Tenterfield are black and white.  All great little farm dogs, good hunters of rodents and rabbits.

Yes I am a farm girl from way back.  Born on a remote farm, and spent all my school days living on a farm and taking a daily bus ride of an hour and a half to school every week day. I remember running the 500mtrs of so from our house down to the road to catch the bus at 7.10am each day.  Then arriving at school just in time for the first class.  Long days.  Most of my younger life my dad worked for farmers and we lived on their farms.  Mostly fine wool sheep and some cattle and cropping.  But the owners always let me and my older sister use their stock horses, because they needed the work. So that was nice. When I was about 12 I think, my sister and I had saved up enough to buy our own pony. Called her Flicka.  You may be too young to remember a book called "My friend Flicka". I think there was a move and a TV series as well. Anyway the owner of the farm allowed us to have the pony there which was good. Flicka was fabulous, my best friend at the time. I would wander off into the big paddock and just sit and gaze at her lovingly.  She was a beaut little pony too, she was unbroken when we got her as a 12 months old. So we had to break her in ourselves.

Yes Meercats are cute.  I have seen them in a zoo too, but also have seen some wildlife programs on TV which feature them.  Meercat Manor its called.  Have you seen it?  I have seen baby meercats at the zoo I visited. I also have a calendar hanging on our kitchen wall which has a meercat for each month.  They are so gorgeous.

Re: Word for the Day - Comfort or Play

@Appleblossom thanks for sharing all of those pictures, i loved looking at them all

@Serenity1 thank you for sharing! your dogs sound very spoilt and loved. cute names for them both too.

Re: Word for the Day - Comfort or Play

dont worry i can never spell that word either 🤔 @Former-Member
Holly is very cute! ah yeah i think my dog may have been crossed between the foxy and a jack russell then as mum use to call her a foxy all the time i owned her for 16 yrs before she had to be pts due to illness and old age symptoms.

wow your farm life sounds great! we only lived on the farm for about a yr before the house wasnt much good so we rented a house but kept the aggisment property.

i still have the book and all the movies of Flicka. both the older ones and the newer versions as well. as well as the silver brumby, and Mr Ed as well.

Breaking in a pony/horse is both challanging but worthwhile isnt it. i too have broken in a horse but mostly i would retrain them or work on them for others. ive always been good with the problem sort of horses- some unsuccessfull though unfortunatly mostly due to the previous owners fault so it made some quite dangerous or out of my league and had to be passed on to others.

i havent seen Meercat Manor before, i have seen some documentaries though but that was a long while ago.they are actually really clever little creatures too.
