Re: Trying makes it worse

@EternalFlower

Here is the long awaited secret shortbread recipe. It’s an old family recipe so it’s in old fashioned weights but you could convert it.

Shortbread

  • 4 oz butter
  • 2 oz caster sugar

Beat butter and sugar till pale and fluffy.

  • 6 oz plain flour (remove one dessert spoon of plain four and replace with one dessert spoon of self raising flour
  • 2 Tablespoons of ground rice (McKenzies Rice Flour in red box)

In seperate bowl mix the flours. Then gradually mix the flour into butter/sugar mix. Form into ball and then press out to 1/2 inch thick and cut into shapes. Chill shapes on tray for an hour then bake at 180 degrees celcius fie approximately 15 mins or until cooked. My Aunt makes them quite blonde but I like mine golden. Cool then store in air tight container. Enjoy!

Hey.  I was so tempted to send you the clip from the movie.  Black mass with Johnny Depp.

Incredible acting.   You  Tube..   the steak scene..    Its famous.   Now be patient and wait till

You get to the end and hope you see the funny side and how well its directed.   Your secret family recipe gave me flashbacks.

Re: Trying makes it worse

Thanks!

I have not been doing too well. Two appointments cancelled this week with hardly any notice so no visitors.

Met up today with my aunt, was working in theraoy on giving her a chance as she was the only family member i thiught night be ok and i was so lonely in hospital with no visitors.

My aunt could not acknowledge anything i was going through, talked about bow well she is doing and her children, when i said i had ptsd, changed the subject and when i said i had been in hospital didnt show any interest and talked about gossip about people i dont know or fare about. So i have no family.

Re: Trying makes it worse

Hey there @EternalFlower    Mate ..  you have a new family.   The friends that write to you,  think of

you dearly.   Soon as I find your letters,  I'm there to talk to you my friend.

So ...    It sounds like your in hospital.  Not good,   but then uncle Tonys is always thinking of his

stomach.   Least they wont run out of tucker,  and I'm  hoping they have the heater cranked.

I've been doing the rounds with the young couple that are taking on the farm so I can have a break.

Keeping up with them makes me realise just how much the years of toil have sapped me.

We make the best of what each new day hands us and hope that in the eyes those we feed,

and care for,   Its enough.    I look at the worn handles on my tools and know I've done enough.

Time to wrestle a couple of big logs into the stove so its got something to chew on this cold night.

All the farms asleep,  every little animal sleeping,  but in our dreams we meet n play.  In dreams all things are possible.

Take care of yourself @EternalFlower   And dream,    you may just hear us at play. . .

Hey  @Oaktree ..    I do hope you are well.  I left my tin bowl at your back door..  tonys moonbase 1

Re: Trying makes it worse

So sorry @tonys

Keep forgetting to put out my daily menu. I miss you. How are you doing?
Hubby’s knees are painful but he is managing to work ok. He is a brave and determined man. I took him shopping today and he held the lift door open for some old dear. She was walking very slowly towards the lift. As she passed me she said that if I didn’t want him that she would take him. I assured her that I was keeping him! He’s a good man and a real old fashioned gentleman.

@EternalFlower I am sorry that it didn’t work out as you had hoped with your Aunt. As Tonys said you have family here online that cares about you! However that doesn’t solve your visitor problem. I wish these forums weren’t anonymous sometimes. I would love to come over and have a cuppa with you…

Re: Trying makes it worse

Hi   @Oaktree,.   How are you mate.  Your hubby is a true tressure.  Times are changing,  and Its up to

folks like us to pass on the "old school baton"  .   I still give up my seat on the bus and do the door thing.

I still call cops ,  sir and  Miss.   They look at me strange and smile.   How are you feeling mate. Skimming tree tops,  or cruising on the silver side of the clouds.

Rego due this week so its a race to get the tray done.

I cooked today and left a pannikin on your  porch.   Wallaby tail stew n snow peas.   4 more weeks and

hopefully I'll be picking my snow peas.  only got 2 acres in.   staggered planting so it won't need many pickers..   Now all I need is 3 weeks of sunshine to bring em on..  and hope the frost behaves. I've got big fans set up in case.

@EternalFlower    How are you managing today mate.   Area nurse weighed me today and said

I'm putting on a bit of  "condition"   Polite way of saying I've been in the top paddock too long.

Its my winter coat . . .!  .  Put the horses blankets on this arvo and heaps of straw for the pigs.

Winters white knuckles are rapping on the door. .   My ill mannered hound has made of with one of my

Ug boots,  and the cat simply refuses to budge of my favourite old chair.   Least my guitar

still listens to me.      Stay safe and warm my friend.   Will look in on you tomorrow eve..       tonys moonbase 1

@tyme   not sure if you got my note.  but a big thankyou , . .   just in case.

Re: Trying makes it worse

Hi all thanks @Oaktree @tonys @Appleblossom @tyme for being here.

It is sad having family who are so stupid and selfish

My aunt tried to find gossip from me but otherwise had no interest i. How im coping and when i aaid i was on the ndis she froze and said they're very good and then changed the subject to stuff about how good her kids are.

It is the dismissal like i dont matter
