I think these things would help @NikNik if we remained consciously aware of them. We tend to completely overlook self-care things because we become trapped in the care giving role and don't stop to consider these things. And yes they do take effort, time, etc. which feels too hard. I personally believe I had good self-care in place and still got burnt out, mainly because I wasn't tuned in to how tired and overextended I was despite the self-care. I think it's about being in tune with how you really feel and then using a variety of strategies to prevent burnout.

It can be hard to find balance or practice self care if you're doing it solo 😐
Agree @Jen02, I have had to work hard at accepting help and even asking for help. For a long time I tried to do it all alone so we did not have to admit how unwell my darling actually was, to ourselves or others

I think asking for help @Determined is a definite and also having the ability to say "No" sometimes.

Yes learning 'NO' was a big thing for me @Janna,
Refusing to house sit for my mum at the end of last year ruffeled quite a few feathers despite my darling being fresh out of hospital.

Glad to hear that you did it nevertheless @Determined. I couldn't really say "No" to xmas ..... as much as I wanted to! That festive obligation is something you have to do and probably why so many people burn out in January.
