Grief & loss - may be triggering

Re: Grief & loss - may be triggering

Sorry about your friend. @Former-Member

They have a big horticulture section at the zoo where I volunteer.  @Adge  Its an important area of knowledge and work.

Re: Grief & loss - may be triggering

Hi @Adge

@Former-Memberis working this morning and she asked me to check on you to see how you are

I hope things are as good as they can be right now - I know you are battling on a few fronts right now and life can be really hard

So - I also hope your Saturday is okay

Re: Grief & loss - may be triggering

Nice one@Dec I love your bright picture.

Your picture too @Former-Member & @Appleblossom.

They're all lovely bright & cheery.

I'm struggling with severe fatigue today. Pushing yet there's no energy in me.

I'm getting there. Thanks.

Re: Grief & loss - may be triggering

Hi everyone,

My brother's mother in law died a few days ago. I only found out on Saturday.

Although I had guessed because Mum left distressed messages on my answering machine - too late evening to be able to phone her back.

It's had a flow on effect, disrupting my connections with family members over there (NSW) for the time being.

I'm sorry @Adge - about your friend and your mother's distress and the conditions within your family

None of these things are good esp when things are rough and more so when there is a death in the family

I am thinking of you - I wish there was something I could say that would help but I know from my own experience that there are no right words

Thinking of you

Re: Grief & loss - may be triggering

Thanks @Owlunar Your thoughts are great.

Yes it's hard to know what to say.

I haven't sent them a sympathy card yet - although I know I could or should have.

I guess it does tie into my grief over my father. It's too many losses (people going) too close to home.

Re: Grief & loss - may be triggering

I know @Adge

I have had a lot of losses close together too - when I was very young actually

The hardest one until my son was the young bloke I sat next to at work - we share part of our work - and we were together during our waking hours more than anyone else we knew - something I only thought about years later - he was killed in a car accident - and he was just one of a bunch of people -

There is no easy way to go through this - and I found I had buried my grief for my work-mate and had to grieve for him when I was grieving for my son

I wish I could say something more useful - I do understand - it's tough

Send a card when it feels right - actually it's quite possible that the family is receiving a log of cards - I remember getting mail in packets - like over 10 per day - so sending a card right away might not be noticed - but in a week or so - it is more likely to matter

I do wish you and your card to travel well right now - that is a strange thing to say but the best thing I can think of right now
