Its for a role that would be researching, planning/co-designing, and implementing service delivery improvements to the local government's service centre (the place you get your license, or submit forms, pay your rego, etc all those local government services). Got an interview this week upcoming.
Had an interview 2 weeks ago for a service desk manager role. Haven't heard back yet, so most likely didnt get it, but that isnt too surprising. Im glad I got an interview though, cos thats pretty good in itself. 🙂
I wonder if I could start a "job seeking help/advice" thread, perhaps in work/study space? Do you think that would be of interest/help to people?
Im generally happy to give people some tips/advice on writing job applications and how to frame or transfer their existing skills and experience into a new role.

for sure! getting interviews aren't easy, and regardless of whether you get the role - it's usually a really good learning experience. the local gov service role sounds really interesting!! wish you all the best with the interview 💙
yes for sure, love that idea! i had a quick look through the Employment, education and training space, and it doesn't seem like anyone's posted a similar thread recently - would be nice to get a fresh thread on it!

Hi @rav3n and others here. What a great topic you’ve posted - music- so thanks for posting it. I also like this thread Wind-down Wednesdays so please keep me tagged for new topics!
As for music, I’m a person who really enjoys music as I find that I can relate to certain songs, bands, artists, etc, at certain times, especially if I’m going through difficult times. Music is a great motivation for me as I often put on certain songs to get me to do things, including if I’m anxious about doing something and don’t really want to do it. For example Kylie Minogues ‘I was gonna cancel’ is a great motivation song for me, along with Casey Barnes ‘Better Days’ and John Farnham ‘In days to come’. I also like The Wolfe Brothers song ‘What you make it’ as well. I have a playlist of songs on my iPhone called Motivation Music that I listen to a lot of the time. I also have other playlists on my phone for certain moods, including a list to play when I’m feeling unwell.
My tastes in music vary from Taylor Swift to The Wolfe Brothers, Kaylee Bell, Casey Barnes, John Farnham, Jimmy Barnes, Lee Kernaghan, Birds of Tokyo, lots of 80s music, ABBA due to Mamma Mia movies, Richard Marx, Pitbull, Matchbox 20, Kylie Minogue - her earlier music, Amy Shark, Poison, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard and Sheppard. I’m not a fan of the 90s grunge era music - my teenage years- and classical/opera isn’t my scene. Meditation music is okay at times but not something I usually prefer, despite lots of mental health facilities and services promoting the benefits of it. I also do go through periods where I enjoy silence, such as when I need to focus on tasks requiring lots of concentration when I’ve been studying or working on a complex knitting, crochet or cross stitch pattern. I also like the sound of rain and thunder when I experience it and waves crashing on the beach - the calm app used to have free nature sounds but I’m not sure if they do anymore.

thanks for sharing @Judi9877!! i'll definitely tag you in the next one too 😊
yesss i love creating playlists to match certain moods! loving the range of music you're into.
i feel the same about silence when needing to concentrate. there's times where i'll start an activity with music (for comfort and motivation) and then half way through the activity, i'll turn of the music because i'm so into the task and the music's turned into a distraction!
i have used the calm app in the past too, but i'm not sure if sounds are still free either. i hope they are!

hi everyone!! welcome back to wind-down wednesdays 💙
today we're exploring probably one of the more common grounding tools - the 5 senses!
the 5 senses tool is great for redirecting our attention especially when we're feeling triggered. it gives us the opportunity to pause and ground our selves by focusing on our present surroundings rather than our internal thoughts/feelings. sometimes when my mind has 20 things going on at once, i like to do this exercise to slow things down.
so if you've got a minute or 2 to spare - find yourself a comfy spot, join us in the 5 senses exercise:
What do you I see?
What object can you feel/touch?
What can you hear?
What can you smell?
What can you taste?
you can pick one for each category, or some times, people do 5 sight, 4 touch/feel, 3 sounds, 2 smells and 1 taste. please feel free to share your responses below!
p.s. the extra questions around the colour, texture, etc., are optional - usually the more details you focus on in your external environment, the less you'll be focused on your internal thoughts during the exercise.
